Struggling Brisbane RSL club goes up to avoid going down

The RSL sub-branch has 213 members, and the club itself more than 2000.
Coorparoo’s RSL site will become a vertical aged care facility under a plan by purchasers Bolton Clarke.
At the end of the expression of interest campaign, aged care provider Bolton Clarke purchased the site in late December.
Mr Cuylenburg said the RSL was now leasing back the site for at least two or three years, and the club would next consider whether to buy back into the site as development got under way.
Bolton Clarke plans to construct a multi-storey tower over the site, to include 100 independent living apartments, 30 assisted living apartments, a 60-bed residential aged care community, and amenities including a library, gym, dining room and rooftop terrace.
