Major flood warning for north Queensland as western heatwave approaches

Further north of Halifax, at Euramo, the bureau reported 247 millimetres in the 24 hours to 9am on Tuesday morning.
Multiple roads across northern Queensland are blocked or closed due to flooding, as the Herbert River also reaches 9.75 metres at Ingham Pump Station, inland of Halifax, and is expected to reach 11 metres by Tuesday afternoon.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster James Thompson said there were many other flood warnings current across the northern coastline, with the heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms expected to gradually contract northwards towards Cape York.
However, he said it may return on Sunday or Monday along the tropical east coast.
