Perth-based indie trio San Cisco have announced the release of the upcoming album Between You and Me and a new track called Messages.
Fans have been waiting two years and its their fourth release which will be available from September 4.
Jordi Davieson and Josh Biondillo feature on vocals and guitar, with Scarlett Stevens on drums and vocals.
I feel like were all equally invested in this record, Davieson said.
Its a feeling we havent really had since the first record, when you release a bunch of songs youve been playing for two or three years. Weve really grown with these songs. I still love them the same as the day we wrote them.
The video clip for their new track Messages has been released and features Stevens on vocals for the first time without support from Davieson or Biondillo.
Messages is a tongue-in-cheek bop about shitty friends, Davieson said.
Originally the lyrics were loosely inspired by my frustration with Scarlett never replying to my messages, but when we decided the track would be much better with her singing vocals instead she added in a few of her annoyances about me. It turned into quite a constructive process for our friendship. She still never replies to messages.
The album was recorded in the bands Fremantle studio and Mullumbimby in northern NSW with their longtime collaborator Steve Schram and PONDs James Ireland producing.
The album also features the singles When I Dream and Skin, both of which were voted into the triple j Hottest 100 in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
On the Line is also included on the new record and the video clip was filmed in WA as social distancing restrictions were eased.
The band cancelled and rescheduled their upcoming shows and performed for SOTAstream as part of the WA Day festival last month.
