Woman and three children dead after house fire in Glen Waverley in Melbourne’s south-east
A neighbour says she heard screaming coming from a burning house in Melbourne’s south-east before learning a woman and her three children had died in the “horrific” blaze.
Key points:
- A neighbour says the scene was “like a war zone” as the home burned
- It took more than two hours to bring the blaze under control
- A man, believed to be a member of the family, was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and serious injuries
Firefighters were called to Tulloch Grove in Glen Waverley about 1:40am on Sunday after receiving multiple calls about smoke coming from the two-storey townhouse.
Crews found the garage on the ground level “engulfed with flames” and the home filled with smoke, Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Major said.
