A Melbourne woman who presented to a dermatologist after noticing rapid hair growth on her face, neck and upper body was later diagnosed with cancer.
The 51-year-old woman, who has not been formally identified, fronted the clinic two months after noticing rapidly progressing hair growth, fatigue, weight loss, and a cough.
The woman had no other relevant medical history and was taking no medications, but had been smoking for 37 years, according to the New England Journal of Medicine.
