‘I’m on treatment forever and there is no cure’ – 9Honey
Sydney woman’s health battle

Jo Douglas never thought she’d be able to have children. Having been diagnosed with gynaecological cancer in 1996 at the age of 26, she feared the treatment she underwent had left her infertile.
Douglas, 51, who lives in Sydney, had just finished chemotherapy when she met her partner David, 45, at a pub in Newtown.
“I was still wearing a wig because my hair hadn’t grown back yet,” she tells 9Honey. “I was very paranoid about it, so I always told everyone I was wearing a wig.”
