Researchers release most detailed analysis ever carried out of disease transmission
Covid-19 was introduced into the UK mainly from southern Europe, rather than China, during the first wave of the pandemic, according to the most comprehensive genomic analysis of transmission ever carried out for any disease.
The study, led by Oxford and Edinburgh universities, analysed more than 1,000 infections brought into the UK by travellers from other countries before the end of April. Only 0.4 per cent came directly from China. The largest sources were Spain (33 per cent), France (29 per…
