WA is imposing a hard border with Queensland from midnight tonight, Mark McGowan has announced, in response to fears of an outbreak of the new fast-spreading UK strain of COVID-19 in Brisbane.
Travel from Queensland now designated a medium risk State into WA is only permitted with a police exemption. Exempt travellers then need to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The 7500 arrivals from Queensland since January 2 must self quarantine for 14 days and get tested by Tuesday.
