Brooms Head beach covered in wall of rotting seaweed, tourists call for action
A wall of seaweed may not have been the Christmas present many were wishing for at Brooms Head on the NSW Clarence Coast.

- The council says higher than normal king tides have reduced the seaweed naturally
But mother nature delivered several tonnes of kelp at the popular beach, just as peak tourist season hit.
The natural phenomenon has not dampened the spirit of holiday-makers, but the sheer scale of the rotting kelp is the talk of the town.
Mother of three Trish Hoffman said it would be helpful if the local council could remove some of the seaweed just to reduce the volume as she believed it was a human health issue.
