Daniel Andrews to push National Cabinet to adopt Victoria’s COVID measures amid UK coronavirus strain fears

Daniel Andrews says he has cut short his leave ahead of tomorrow’s National Cabinet meeting, so he can push to have Victoria’s strengthened coronavirus measures implemented nationwide.
Key points:
- The meeting will consider measures including putting international airline staff into hotel quarantine and pre-flight testing
- Mr Andrews says there needs to be a national strategy
- NSW’s Chief Health Officer says the state is already moving to “scale” its quarantine testing
The Prime Minister requested the special meeting with the premiers and chief ministers to discuss the threat posed by a mutant strain of the COVID-19 virus that has emerged in the United Kingdom.
The next National Cabinet meeting wasn’t scheduled until early February.
