There is a severe thunderstorm warning for Gympie, Somerset and South Burnett areas this evening. Expect damaging winds and heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding.

BOM: The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the ranges between Gympie and Murgon and Elgin Vale. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Kilkivan by 8:55 pm and Goomeri and the area north of Kilkivan by 9:25 pm….
