Studies show that more than half of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related deaths in Mexico are in middle-aged adults (45 to 65 years old), which is in stark contrast to the deaths in developed countries. Mexico, with its young population, has a high prevalence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity that contribute to adverse COVID-19 outcomes.
