Young Melbourne man drowns after entering canal while on Gold Coast holiday
Tragedy has struck a group of young people from Victoria holidaying on the Gold Coast after one of their friends drowned in a canal.
The 21-year-old man, from Keilor East in Melbourne, died in the early hours of Tuesday morning after entering the Broadbeach canal near his accommodation.
He entered the water with two friends about 5.30am but he failed to resurface.
His body was found by police divers fewer than four hours later.
