Bushfire threatens lives, homes in Perth’s southern suburbs and on Tonkin Highway

Two bushfire warnings are in effect for Perth, with blazes burning to the south and south-east of the greater metropolitan area.
Key points:
- Both fires are currently burning at emergency warning level
- One affects southern suburbs including The Spectacles, Orelia, Medina, Naval Base, Postans, Kwinana Beach and Hope Valley
- The other fire is burning in Gosnells and has forced the evacuation of a retirement village
The most recent emergency warning is for Gosnells, in an area bounded by Albany Highway, Dorothy Street, Mills Road West and Tonkin Highway.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said homes in Riverside Gardens were under threat.
