A Californian mum never had the chance to hold her newborn baby girl, dying of a heart attack and COVID-19 complications barely a month after giving birth.
Vanessa Cardenas Gonzalez – who already had two young sons – was diagnosed with COVID on November 4 and due to give birth a few days later.
On November 9 she delivered a healthy daughter she and husband Alfonso named Heaven.
But the hospital forbade the 33-year-old from holding Heaven, hugging her, or being anywhere near her.
