Melbourne Airport Rail Link to use elevated ‘sky rail’ through north-western suburbs

Melbourne’s long-awaited Airport Rail Link will include long stretches of elevated track, or ‘sky rail’, through the city’s north-western suburbs.

- The Airport Rail Link will include elevated stretches over the Maribyrnong River
- The Government says homes will need to be acquired along sections of the track

The Victorian Government has confirmed the design for the project involves a series of elevated tracks through Sunshine North, Keilor East and Airport West.
The rail link will also include bridges over several gorges and sections of the Maribyrnong River.
