A man who deliberately drove his ute into a Westpac branch in Perth’s CBD on Christmas Day wanted to exact revenge on the bank, a Perth court has been told.

Bryan James Spain appeared in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on Saturday.

He drove his silver utility through the front glass doors of the Westpac Bank on St Georges Terrace on Friday afternoon.

The vehicle did not stop until it hit the branch’s back wall, which it also damaged.

Nobody was in the bank at the time.

The court was told it was a deliberate act, and the damage bill is likely to be $120,000.

“Westpac ruined my credit history,” was the explanation Mr Spain gave the court for his actions.

He was released on bail with an order to stay at least 50 metres away from all Westpac banks…
