Zhang Yufen — known across China as the Mistress Killer — is not used to being idle.
But she is relaxing at home in the Chinese city of Xi’an, taking care of the ankle she broke on the job helping Chinese women track down their unfaithful husbands and mistresses.
Now in her 60s, Zhang has discovered long days stalking her suspects, cooped up in a car on surveillance and crouching in corners to hide from view have begun to take their toll.
She used to receive more than 100 calls a day from women desperate for her detective skills. But a broken ankle, and COVID-19, means business is unusually slow: many people are too scared of catching the virus to have an affair.
