Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s love story began in 1836, when Albert travelled from his home in Germany to London for his cousin Princess Victoria’s 17th birthday.
The attraction between Victoria and Albert was immediate and they both expressed their interest in each other in letters written to family members. Victoria described Albert as having “the most pleasing and delightful exterior”.
