Jockey outed until May 2021 by Victorian Racing Tribunal for illegal betting
Ben Melham will not be permitted to ride in races until May 2021 after he was slapped with a five-month disqualification for betting offences.
On Wednesday, Victorian Racing Tribunal chairman Judge John Bowman denounced some of Melham’s illegal betting conduct as ‘reprehensible’ before disqualifying him on four charges – three related to illegal betting and one for giving false evidence to Racing Victoria stewards.
His penalty being a disqualification rather than a suspension means Melham is excluded…
