Brisbane man charged over Australia’s only unsolved police shooting

Queensland detectives have charged a Brisbane man over a 1999 bank robbery and the shooting of a responding police officer, which had been Australia’s only unsolved police shooting.
A 49-year-old man will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with 13 offences including attempted murder and deprivation of liberty.

The officer who was shot spoke last month about the ordeal over the incident, which happened at the National Australia Bank at Browns Plains on March 24, 1999.
