Fatal pedestrian strike near Mataranka raises Northern Territory road toll to 31

The Northern Territory road toll has risen for the second time this week after a pedestrian was hit by a truck on the Stuart Highway.

Emergency services were told the pedestrian was struck about two kilometres from the town of Mataranka at about 9:00pm on Tuesday.
Police and staff from the town’s health clinic responded to the incident, but police said the person died upon impact.
The Territory’s road toll now stands at 31.
