The Sydney to Hobart has been cancelled for the first time in its 75-year history after Tasmania shut its borders.
The annual yacht race has been contested every year since 1945 but organisers pulled the pin late on Saturday night, just days from its Boxing Day start, following a COVID outbreak in Sydney.
The Northern Beaches cluster grew to 38 cases on Saturday which saw state governments around the country change their COVID positions.
