One man missing, one in hospital after early morning Gold Coast swim
An air and sea search is under way at a popular Gold Coast beach after a man failed to return to shore after taking an early morning swim.
Police say officers were called to the Esplanade at Surfers Paradise about 2.30am on Sunday after two others who took to the water with him made it back to shore.

One of that pair, a man, was conscious when paramedics arrived at the beach but received treatment, while a woman required no medical help.
