Trainer announces ‘hard decision’ to end partnership with leading syndicator
Melbourne Cup-winning jockey and trainer Michelle Payne says it was a “hard decision” to split with leading syndicator First Light Racing.
Payne announced she and FLR would go their separate ways, with the decision seeing about “15 of the 22 or 23” horses in her name depart her stable.
The 35-year-old said she felt the relationship “got to a position where I didn’t feel comfortable training the horses under their management”.
“It was a hard decision to come to,” Payne said.
