Pedestrian hit and killed by car on NT highway overnight, sparking road safety appeal
A 36-year-old man has died after being hit by a 4WD on the Roper Highway near the NT’s Mataranka township overnight.

- A man, aged 36, was fatally struck shortly before 8:00pm
- The driver of the vehicle involved is assisting police with their enquiries
- Police have established a crime scene
The car which was travelling west on the highway at the time.
The driver stopped to assist the man, taking him to a clinic in Matranka, but he was declared dead just after 8:00pm.
NT Police said they had secured a crime scene on the highway, and detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit were travelling to the location today to begin an investigation of the circumstances surrounding the crash.
