Two crew members safe after fighter jet incident at Amberley airbase

An Air Force fighter jet has been involved in an incident at the Amberley air base on Monday afternoon which appeared to force two crew members to eject.
Images from the scene show two people descending to the ground with parachutes at the site, about 50 kilometres south-west of Brisbane.

An aircraft on the runway, which Nine reported to be an F/A-18 Super Hornet, appeared to have damage around the cockpit.
In a brief statement, a Defence Department spokeswoman said the crew were safe and no other personnel were involved.
“Defence’s first priority is the safety of personnel at RAAF Base Amberley,” she said.
