Trio charged as authorities dismantle Western Sydney drug syndicate
The three arrests in November were the culmination of an investigation launched last year by the Australian Federal Police organised crime investigators in Melbourne.
In September this year, Australian Border Force officers detected 180 kilograms of methamphetamine, hidden in refrigerated air dryers. The air cargo consignment from Malaysia, had an estimated street value of up to $135 million.
The AFP traced the consignment to an address in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria where investigators seized an encrypted phone, fraudulent documents and an estimated $250,000 in cash. Another search warrant executed at a residence in Chipping Norton, led to the arrest of another…
