The airline has revealed what caused the damage.
A plane in the US has been diverted after its nose was caved in by hail.
Delta Air Lines flight 1076 from Miami to New Yorks LaGuardia Airport was diverted to John F Kennedy International Airport in New York after being struck by the hail.
The plane from Palm Beach International landed safely at JFK on Monday evening after reporting a problem with navigation equipment, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Photos show the planes nose inverted and fissured.
Delta flight 1076 operating from West Palm Beach to New York-LaGuardia diverted to New York-JFK out of an abundance of caution following a mechanical issue, Delta said in a statement.
The flight landed safely and without incident and maintenance is evaluating the aircraft.
There were 43 passengers on board.
There was early speculation the damage may have been caused by a bird strike.
However, Delta later said the impact was caused by hail.
