With retirement looming over his head, Godolphin gelding Kementari has broken a lengthy winning drought with victory in the Group Three AJ Scahill Stakes at Ascot. Dubbed ‘Special K’ early in his career, Kementari entered Saturday’s race in Perth having gone over 1000 days without a win – 1002 days to be exact – with his last time in the winners’ stall having come in the Group One Randwick Guineas back in March 2018.
