Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd earlier this year dubbed this years draft the most compromised draft in the history of the game. Thats because a significant portion of the top Under 18 footballers are already tied to AFL clubs, either via father-son or academy links.
It means comes draft night, rival clubs will bid on up to a dozen prospects to ensure the teams that have rights to those players earn the draft selection.
