Original Queensland Museum in William St, Brisbane, ca.1882 and 1885. Erected in 1877-79, this building in William Street first served as the Queensland Museum. In 1902 it was converted into the Public Library
of Queensland (renamed the State Library of Queensland in 1971). Designed by George Curtis Walker, the building is made of brick and sandstone, and has eight second-storey columns along the front facade. The Queensland Museum moved to the Exhibition Building premises at Gregory Terrace in 1899, but is now located at the Cultural Centre, South Brisbane.
