Boy breathes on his own for first time since being struck by tyre
The five-year-old boy who was hit by a tyre when it flew off a ute allegedly performing a burnout north of Brisbane is breathing on his own for the first time since the accident.
The boy, whose family did not want to be named, suffered life-threatening head injuries after he was hit on the footpath outside the Caboolture Square Shopping Centre with his three-year-old brother and father on Wednesday, November 25.

Police alleged the driver began to spin the wheels as the traffic lights at the intersection of King Street and Morayfield Road turned green when a wheel dislodged from the ute and struck the boy.
