“We’ve lost a few because we’ve had to put more tables and chairs in and reduce some of the areas to allow bigger walkways for queueing and social distancing,” he said.

“They’ll come back as soon as we get the green light for more crowd numbers.”

Mr Stainton said he was confident they would control crowd numbers.

“We’ve been shut for eight months and it’s a whole new ball game now but we have had seven years of crowd management experience, so we’ll be OK,” he said.

Mr Stainton said vendors had managed to survive during the closure.

“A lot of our vendors are family businesses and some of them couldn’t get JobKeeper,” he said.

“Some people have had a bit of a rough time with it but in other cases, one family member has still been working and…
