New figures show Microsoft’s TypeScript has rapidly become an essential programming language for web developers.

Microsoft’s superset of JavaScript, TypeScript, has shot up to become the fourth most popular programming language on code collaboration platform, GitHub.
TypeScript’s ascent is tracked in Microsoft-owned GitHub’s 2020 State of the Octoverse report, which has just been published.
