People in Victoria and NSW will have to get their spending mojo back if the country is to fully escape the fallout from the pandemic recession.

Consumers in both states have slashed their spending on transport services, largely public transport, by 92 per cent in Victoria and 77 per cent in NSW, while expenditure on recreation and culture such as trips to the gym is down by 26 per cent in Victoria and 7 per cent in NSW.
