Adelaide Festival art installation The Plastic Bag Store plays to the absurdity of heavily packaged groceries – ABC News
A New York art installation that pushes heavily packaged fruit and vegetables to their logical extremes is coming to Adelaide next year.
New Yorker Robin Frohardt was so horrified to see her shopping mummified in plastic that she felt compelled to act.
Key points:
- The Adelaide Festival is being held early next year
- It will include a “store” featuring products made from plastic bags
- Its premiere in New York was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic
She watched a shop attendant bag and double-bag groceries that were already inside a bag, at a store in her home city.
“It just felt so absurd to me,” she recalled.
