Champion mare wins dramatic race and sets further records in final start

Champion Japanese mare Almond Eye ended her racing career in fine style, winning her second Grade 1 Japan Cup (2400m) at Tokyo on Sunday.
The five-year-old Lord Kanaloa mare won her ninth Grade/Group 1 race on turf, the most by a Japanese-trained horse, and ended the unbeaten records of three-year-old rivals Contrail and Daring Tact who finished second and third respectively.
