Kalyn Ponga has prematurely revealed Newcastle Knights captain Mitchell Pearce has re-signed with the club.
Pearces future has been the source of speculation in recent weeks amid rumours the veteran half-back was set to return to the Sydney Roosters.
The 31-year-olds three-year deal with the Knights expires at the end of next season, meaning he is free to negotiate with rival NRL clubs.
There has been no official announcement from Pearce or the Knights regarding his contract status beyond 2021.
