Police investigate child’s death in Townsville

Queensland police are at Townsville University Hospital in North Queensland investigating the death of a child.
Officers were called to the hospital about 3:30pm and detectives from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit are also attending.
The cause of the child’s death is not known at this stage.
It is understood a woman arrived at the Townsville University Hospital this afternoon with the child in her four-wheel drive.
Police have confirmed a vehicle is part of the investigation and the four-wheel drive has since been taken away on a tow truck.
The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics had not been called to an incident.
There are no further details yet.
