The opera hailed as Australia’s best that hasn’t been seen in 30 years – Sydney Morning Herald
Victorian Opera is reviving Voss next year, hailed “the great Australian opera” at its 1986 premiere. Its return fulfils a promise made to an old friend.

Next year, at last, he will. In August (pandemic permitting), Voss will be one of the highlights of VO’s 2021 season, a co-production with the State Opera of South Australia, featuring an all-Australian cast led by Samuel Dundas as Voss and Emma Pearson as Laura.
Mills hopes some surviving cast members of the premiere will come to see it. It will be directed by Stuart Maunder, whose ex-wife sang in the original cast and who joined the standing ovation on its opening night in Adelaide.
