Brisbane ‘throws ratepayer money overseas’ to be carbon neutral: Councillor
“We achieved very proudly in 2017 the first carbon-neutral level of government in Australia … an achievement we are extremely proud of [that] shows our commitment to practical action to tackle climate change,” acting mayor Krista Adams said in council chambers on Tuesday.
“… Our reporting shows that council’s carbon footprint has reduced by 7 per cent since 2016-17.”
But opposition leader Jared Cassidy said the LNP administration’s own buy-local platform was being undercut by investing offsets in projects such as the Gansu Changma Wind Power Project in the Chinese province of Gansu.
