The Australian sharemarket has erased its losses for 2020 as Wall Street’s overnight rally pushed local stocks to their highest levels since February.
The S&P/ASX200 Index is up 60.9 points, or 0.9 per cent, to 6705 points. The index has rallied 47 per cent from its March lows. The market ended 2019 at 6684 points.
It follows a rally in US stock overnight, with political certainty and hopes for a vaccine lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average above 30,000 points for the first time.
