Strong criticism from the federal Indigenous Australians Minister about the Northern Territory Government’s “slow” and “unacceptable” pace in improving remote housing has forced the Chief Minister to defend his Government’s commitment to reducing overcrowding.

In 2019, the Commonwealth agreed to provide the NT with more than half a billion dollars over five years to construct almost 2,000 new bedrooms in remote communities.
