Mr James Trackson, entrepreneur and adventurer of Sedgley Grange, Newmarket, became the first motorist in Brisbane when he started driving his steam powered ‘Locomobile’ around the streets in 1902. At the time, the Brisbane City Council declared that this new ‘craze’ would never catch on, as no more than 100 of Brisbane’s citizens would ever be able to afford one!
