They may not look a day over 21 but these fresh faced Trauma Teddies have officially been comforting our littlest patients for 30 years!
Trauma Teddies have been thoughtfully and lovingly knitted by volunteers
across the country since 1990. Over 1 million children have cuddled a Trauma Teddy in their time of need over the last three decades and we are so grateful for each and every one. We’d love to stake claim to these brilliant additions to the QAS but it was our friends over the border from NSW Ambulance that coined this idea after the calming effect a teddy bear gives was observed. This idea was mentioned to the Australian Red Cross and they (of course) sprung straight into action.
Cheers to you Australian Red Cross and all of your wonderful volunteers for giving comfort and security to children in some of the scariest times of their lives.
Happy #TraumaTeddy30!
