Darwin’s Larrakia find much in common with First Nations of Anchorage in Parallel Hearts project
Indigenous peoples from Alaska share plenty in common with the Larrakia in Darwin, a radio project has found.
Key points:
- The Dena’ina in Anchorage and the Larrakia in Darwin have found they have come through the same struggles
- Parallel Hearts, a radio program starring 13 Indigenous peoples from sister-cities Darwin and Anchorage, charts their histories, seasons, cultures, environments, and colonisation
- Both are using Indigenous language to reconnect with their cultures
