Brisbane’s four-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers at Hurstville Oval this morning ensured they consolidated second spot on the ladder, as the Heat knuckled down and fought back from a shattering start to their run chase.
The Heat bowlers again held their nerve after a characteristically quick start from the Scorchers, led by ex-Brisbane bat Beth Mooney, restricting the team from the west to 8-137.
The spin trio of Jess Jonassen (2-19), Amelia Kerr (1-15) and Grace Harris (2-19) all combined to peg back the Scorchers’ batting efforts.
Brisbane lost usual batting trumps Harris and captain Jonassen in the opening over by English spinner Sarah Glenn to be reeling at 2-6.
