Firefighters save woman and two cats from unit blaze

A woman in her 50s and two cats have been saved from a unit fire in Brisbane.
Four firefighting crews were called to the complex on Fairfield Road, between Cook and Nelson streets, at Yeronga about 5am on Wednesday.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokeswoman said crews found smoke coming from a unit on the second floor.
“A patient is now in the hands of the Queensland Ambulance Service and we were able to get two cats out,” she said.
