A topic that has dominated many of my conversations in the past few years is the rise of vegetarianism, of vegan lifestyles, ‘flexitarians’ and ‘meat reducers’. In 2016 it was estimated that 11.2% of Australians were vegetarian or vegan. A recent survey by Colmar Brunton estimates that 32% of Australians are flexitarian (eating a plant-focused diet with occasional meat or fish consumption) or actively reducing meat in their diets.
